Family Office Financial Services, LLC provides finance, accounting, human resources, technology, communications, executive administration and additional support to the Broad family, The Broad, The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation, The Broad Center, The Broad Art Foundation, and Family Office Investment Services.  Eli Broad has a reported net worth of more than $6 billion.

The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation (TBF) was established by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad to advance entrepreneurship for the public good in education, science and the arts. The Broad Center (TBC) develops leaders to transform America's urban public-school systems. The Broad Art Foundation (TBAF) is a lending library of the over 2,000 works of contemporary art in the Broad collections. The Broad is a contemporary art museum in downtown Los Angeles with over 2.7 million visitors since it opened its doors in 2015.  Family Office Investment Services (FOIS) is the investment manager for the family and foundations.

Job Description

The Director of Finance will play a vital role in providing excellent financial management services to TBF, The Broad, TBAF and TBC.  As a financial partner to these entities the primary responsibility will be managing the nonprofits' accounting reporting and GAAP financial statements as well as financial planning and analysis.

Key responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Direct and evaluate FOFS financial function and performance for all nonprofit entities including responsibility for the accounting, cash management, budgeting, internal controls, accounts payable, and more
  • Coordinate with the independent auditors on preparation of financial statements, internal controls and all documents necessary to support the audit
  • Handle accounting for a sophisticated portfolio of a significant number of direct and alternative investments, including audit of investment return calculations and coordination of performance reporting with investment team
  • Communicate analysis and interpretation of data to management
  • Oversee IT budget and risk management
  • Prepare board presentations and dashboards
  • Work across teams to provide bond analysis and reporting
  • Review grant reports and financial data for communications department
  • Financial analysis as needed for new initiatives and long-term planning
  • Support management of TBF, TBC and The Broad in creating and monitoring staff and board member expense reimbursement policies
  • Daily review and approval of wires, checks, bank reconciliations, expense report authorization and approval for payables with cash management oversight
  • Monthly review of allocations, bank reconciliations and general ledgers


  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or finance
  • CPA license required, advanced certificates, graduate degree a plus (CFA, CFP, MBA)
  • Ten or more years of combined public accounting and private/public company experience
  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of GAAP and financial statements, including working knowledge of accounting for alternative investments and nonprofit organizations
  • Willingness to operate effectively in a hands-on leadership role
  • Strong project management and client service skills
  • Ability to work with individuals from all levels of an organization
  • Strong communication skills and professional presence
  • Adherence to the highest level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, accounting software, investment data systems 

Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background and reference check, which will include a full credit and criminal report as well as verifications of employment and educational records. You must be legally authorized to work in the United States. 


This position is based in Los Angeles, California. Regular attendance in-office is required. 


The appointee's compensation package will be based on experience. FOFS offers excellent benefits including a variety of health plans and 401(k) plan.
