Family Office Financial Services, LLC provides finance, accounting, human resources, technology, communications, executive administration and additional support to The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation, The Broad Center, The Broad Art Foundation, Family Office Investment Services, and The Broad.

The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation was established by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad to advance entrepreneurship for the public good in education, science and the arts. The Broad Center develops leaders to transform America's urban public school systems. The Broad Art Foundation is a lending library of the over 2,000 works of contemporary art in the Broad collections. The Broad is a contemporary art museum in downtown Los Angeles. Family Office Investment Services oversees the endowment of the foundations.

Job Description

 Family Office Financial Services seeks an experienced payroll and benefits coordinator to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll and benefit transactions, and to support a small HR team. This position will be responsible for payroll and benefits for six separate entities with approximately 300 employees total. The selected candidate must be smart, self-motivated and highly detail- and process-oriented. 

Key responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:


  • Prepare semi-monthly payroll for six separate entities, with exempt and non-exempt staff
  • Ensure appropriate earnings and deductions are applied to paychecks
  • Ensure electronic timesheets are complete, accurate and approved by specified deadlines; follow up with employees and supervisors as necessary; and ensure time off is recorded into the system in a timely manner
  • Calculate manual payroll checks (for terms, bonuses, missed hours), submit them to the accounting team, and ensure they are properly accounted for in payroll
  • Maintain digital and physical payroll records
  • Apply garnishments as necessary



  • Reconcile monthly benefit invoices and prepare department breakdowns using pivot tables
  • Process benefit enrollments and terminations with carriers, and follow up as necessary to resolve enrollment issues
  • Process contributions to various benefit and insurance plans

Additional Duties

  • Provide administrative support to the team including downloading and distributing faxes, sorting HR mail, preparing new hire kits, filing (digital and physical), etc.
  • Assist with other projects as necessary


The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of two years of experience with processing payroll for multiple entities/payrolls
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a professional, fast-paced, formal business environment
  • Experience processing benefit invoices/enrollments
  • Demonstrated discretion
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while maintaining a high attention to detail
  • Highly proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Experience with Payday/iSolved is preferred

Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background and reference check, which will include a full credit and criminal report as well as verifications of employment and educational records. You must be legally authorized to work in the United States.


This position is based in Los Angeles, California. Regular attendance in-office is required.
